On our recent visit we relished in the elegant yet relaxed al fresco dining experience we savored at V Bistro. There patrons enjoy a relaxed European style bar, small gourmet plates, home made pastries and a full bar with elegant specialty drinks and coffee beverages.
Restauranteurs Michael and Melissa Ninos had envisioned creating a casual and upscale atmosphere that compliments their affluent restaurant next door. They wanted to create a “true neighborhood bar,” and they have succeeded.
The courtyard was our choice for seating on our visit and it could not have been lovelier. A fountain, vines, flowers and music all added to the ambiance. The place is so popular we ended up running into a friend from Sacramento over an hour and a half away and he joined us for some excellent local wines and small plates.
Our server, Craig McDonald was impeccable and offered great suggestions for pairings. He later suggested a 2010 Hatcher Estate Zinfandel also from Murphys to savor with the freshest and most delicious fish tacos. It was an older style Zin with light peppery notes and was a spectacular surprise.
But the grande finale was a 2007 Boyle MacDonald Cabernet Sauvignon married with the Lamb balls. It was
All of the food was impeccable and presented in a pleasing fashion. Portions were just the right size to order several and share in the equisite flavors.
I had to try one cocktail and since I love and grow beets, I opted for the Beet Martini which was unforgettable and a pleasure to savor. I only hope I can make one half as good one day at home.
On your next trip to Murphys or the Gold Country allow some time for an unrushed visit to V Bistro to get a true flavor of the area’s best wine and cuisine.
