Zion River Resort is Terrific!
Our guest post comes from Bonnie & Bill Neely of: Real Travel Adventures Ezine – Your free online monthly travel magazine with hundreds of features and photos on travel to anywhere.
Zion National Park is a favorite place for all visitors to Utah, and there are two campgrounds within the park: Watchman, which has hookups and can be reserved as much as six months ahead and The South campground, which is only on a first-come basis and has no hookups. If you are unable to secure places within the park you could stay at the campground in Springdale at the park entrance, but we found the most beautiful and peaceful RV park to be thirteen miles ( a ten minute easy and scenic drive ) southwest of Zion at the little town of Virgin, UT.
The Zion River Resort is a sparkling clean RV park and campground right on the Virgin River, which is a quiet stream at some times of year and a rushing beauty at other times. This campground can accommodate RV’s and campers of all types and most large sizes. Tent campers find lovely clean spacious plots.
For those who prefer cabins, you’ll find adorable ones to accommodate four people. These cabins are air conditioned and heated but have no kitchen or bathroom facilities. However, they are located right next to the nicest bathroom and laundry facility we have found in any campground.
Zion River Campground is absolutely beautiful and such a restful landscape of lush green trees and grass set against the backdrop of the mammoth orange mountains. The enticing sound of the small rapids of the river just behind the park, provide the pleasant lullaby you’ll enjoy.
Mason and the other campground managers and hosts are some of the most personable and friendliest we have found anywhere. They enjoy their job and the people they meet from all over the world. The Visitor Center hosts entertainment four nights a week including Game Night, Wine and Cheese, Live Music, Candy Bar Bingo, Community Campfires, Ice Cream Socials, and Movie Night, games by the beautiful heated swimming pool, and wildlife activities including Geocaching, Archaeological Adventures, and Tracking Games. The campground is open all year and is a member of many of the Camping Clubs including Good Sam and FMAC
