Amtrak Offers Free Wi-Fi for Couples Taking the Train

Our guest post comes from Howard Hian who was recently awarded a Gold Medal/First Place Award from the North American Travel Journalists Association’s annual international writing contest.  His prize winning story, Houseboating with My Pirate Pals, was in the Intergenerational Travel category.  In 2010 he also received a second place award in the Cancun International writers competition for his feature, Quintessential Quintana Roo.

What’s more nostalgic and romantic than being curled up together on a train, watching the scenery roll by? There may be no better way to experience a couples road trip than by rail. What has been a romantic form of travel for over a century continues to be but now with modern conveniences.

Around the State – Amtrak and its California passenger rail partners have launched free Wi-Fi service on all three state-supported routes, the Capitol Corridor (Auburn-Sacramento-Emeryville/SF-Oakland-San Jose), San Joaquin (Sacramento-Oakland-Bakersfield), and Pacific Surfliner (San Diego- LA-Santa Barbara-San Luis Obispo).

Additionally, the Capitol Corridor offers designated Quiet Cars on select weekday morning trains. Interestingly, the state of California represents approximately 20% of all of Amtrak’s riders. For information, visit capitolcorridor.org or call 1-877-974-3322.

Safe travels and enjoy the journey…
